The Story
The Balochistan Transport Department-subsidised passenger van route connecting Sibi city to the outlying Talli area was suspended in May after the operating cooperative's contract lapsed, and it has not been renewed or replaced since. Students who relied on the twice-daily service to reach their college in Sibi have had to arrange costly private transport, and several missed first-term examinations in June because no ride could be arranged in time. The route is not commercially attractive to private van operators because of the poor road surface for the last four kilometres, which is itself a separate pending complaint with the Communication & Works Department. Residents raised the lapsed contract with the Transport Department's Sibi office in June and were told a new tender was "under process."
Restore the subsidised Sibi-Talli van service without further delay by finalising the pending tender, given students are missing classes and exams.
